Full Stack Engineer — building for the web and backend systems.
I'm Rishu Chowdhary, a Full Stack Engineer from India with around 4 years of professional experience building web applications, backend systems, APIs, and digital products. My primary experience has been around the JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystem, but over time I've expanded my backend and application development skills into Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem as well.
I enjoy working across the complete development lifecycle — from understanding a requirement and designing the application structure to building the frontend, developing APIs, working with databases, integrating third-party services, and finally getting the product ready for production.
On the frontend, I mainly work with React and Next.js, building responsive, reusable, and performance-focused interfaces. I'm comfortable working with TypeScript, state management, React Query, forms, authentication, role-based access, responsive UI systems, and modern frontend architecture. I pay attention not only to how an application looks, but also to how it behaves, loads, and feels when someone actually uses it.
On the backend, I have hands-on experience with Node.js and frameworks such as NestJS, where I work with REST APIs, authentication and authorization, database integrations, background processing, webhooks, payments, third-party APIs, and business logic. I've worked with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and related ORM/ODM technologies.
I'm also building my experience with Java and Spring Boot because I enjoy understanding different approaches to backend engineering rather than limiting myself to a single ecosystem. My Java background includes Core Java fundamentals, object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, and the foundations needed to work with Spring Boot and enterprise backend development.
I've worked on different kinds of applications, including booking and service-based platforms, food ordering systems, construction management systems, e-commerce-related applications, payment integrations, and business management solutions. These projects have given me experience with real-world requirements such as authentication, user roles, bookings, orders, payments, real-time updates, API integrations, data modelling, and application performance.
For me, writing code is only one part of software development. I care about creating codebases that are understandable, maintainable, reusable, and easy for other developers to work with. I try to keep the balance between moving quickly and building things properly, because a feature is not really finished if it becomes difficult to maintain six months later.
Outside of my regular project work, I like building things simply because I'm curious about how they work. I experiment with developer tools, NPM packages, APIs, reusable components, CodePen projects, and my own coding experiments and playgrounds. I also enjoy exploring areas outside my primary stack, including cloud technologies, system design, performance, AI/data science, and different backend architectures.
I've also completed 40+ professional and technical certifications through platforms and organizations including LinkedIn Learning, AWS, Sololearn, and upGrad. These cover areas such as web development, cloud computing, security, data science, programming, and full-stack development. For me, certifications are less about collecting badges and more about using them as a structured way to keep learning and explore technologies outside my day-to-day work.
I'm particularly interested in opportunities where I can work on challenging products, contribute to technical decisions, learn from experienced engineers, and continue growing as a full-stack developer. While React, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript remain a major part of my experience, I'm equally interested in expanding deeper into Java, Spring Boot, backend architecture, and broader software engineering.
At the end of the day, I'm someone who enjoys building things, understanding how they work, improving them when they don't, and continuously learning something new along the way.
